MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The first Whole Foods Market was originated in 1980 in Austin, TX.

Selling only natural and organic products and produce this store quickly became a success.

Today a wide variety of foods are sold there, more than 2,600.

Mid-Michigan has six Whole Foods stores, the one opening in Meridian Township will be the 7th in Michigan and first in the Lansing area.

Construction on the exterior of the building is complete and now work is being done on the inside.

The new store is expected to open on April 13th.
