The Great Divide

The Great Divide

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A new twist on the annual car cutting competition occurred this past weekend. Meridian, which normally competes against Pittsfield Charter Township, out by Ann Arbor the Friday before the Michigan - Michigan State game took place with a new rival, East Lansing Fire Department.

The Great Divide hosted at Meridians Home Depot had vendors, food, Michigan State Cheerleaders, and Williamston High School Marching Band. With it being East Lansings first year nerves were running high as they were competing against the undefeated Meridian Fire Department.

DeWalt tools plays a huge role in this event. Thanks to their tools, the community had the opportunity to watch two great services compete in a nail-biting competition.

Chad Glover pro-department supervisor is credited to putting majority of the event together however says it couldn't have been done without the employees of Home Depot. "Thee planning, almost takes 2 months of planning everyones here on their own time." Glover says.

Once again, Meridian Township takes the win with 2 minutes and 45 seconds. East Lansing timed at 3 minutes and 4 seconds. Pittsfield who normally competes says they will be back next year ready to take a win according to Glover,"next year Ann Arbor says they'll be back so we'll have a good competition."
