MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - It’s summer tax season in Meridian Township and understanding exactly what and how much you are paying can be confusing.
Joe Ozeliz, Haslett resident explains his feelings towards tax season, "I've always believed that if you want good services, good schools, good police forces, social services, you have to pay for it. Nothing comes free, there's no free lunch."
Julie Brixie, Meridian Township Treasurer explains the layout of the bill and says, "In Meridian Township we have two bills, the summer bill and the winter bill and each bill has different items on it. There is a line item on each bill so that you can see exactly what services you're paying for."
When you see the word ‘millage’ on your bill think tax rate. These rates vary by the school district you live in.
Taxes are due September 15th at 5 p.m.
