MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, LANSING - The Fourth of July celebrates America's independence. The American flag is the biggest icon to represent this country. South Lansing's Kiwanis Club would like to make the area more festive by providing a service to the community.
Upon request, a member of the Kiwanis Club will come out to your home or business and install a 10 foot pole with a sleeve into a 3' x 5' PVC pipe. Hawk Island County Park and Haslett's Ralya Elementary School have subscribed this service. The fee is 40 dollars.
The proceeds go towards community service projects. So far, The Kiwanis Club of South Lansing has given third graders across the community dictionaries and have helped build the Hawk Island playground.
Kiwanis Club of South Lansing President, Hugh McNichol, says that these services are available on certain holidays, "Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Veterans Day."
The Kiwanis Club will also take down the flag after the holiday and store it for you to keep the flag from being damaged.
