EAST LANSING - It was day one of two for the "Clash at Comerica" which showcased MSU, UofM, and CMU baseball. On day one Sparty took on the rival Wolverines.
MSU would get on the board in the bottom of the 4th after a a solid double put Ryan Krill and the Spartans in scoring position. Richardson, got an RBI single to send Krill home from third to put them up 1-0.
The Wolverines quickly capitalized after Patrick was hit by a pitch, Cronenworth singled, and Glines hit a SAC bunt to put Patrick in on third. Maezes followed up the SAC with a 2 RBI single but a double play would end the inning short. When it was all said and done the Wolverines closed the top of the fifth up 2-1.
Sparty wasted no time as three hits by Roskelly, Young, and Krill once more put the Spartans in scoring position. Krill's double would knock in two more runners and they would close out the inning up 4-2.
UofM did their best to put runners in scoring position but had no hits for the rest of the game. Sparty wins day 1, 4-2 and would play CMU the next day.
