EAST LANSING, MI - The Spartans took the field against the South Florida Bulls, in their second consecutive home game and their third to last game until the start of Big10 play.

MSU started slowly, ending the first quarter scoreless, but in the second quarter, the Spartans early season savior, Shilique Calhoun, scored a touch down on a four yard fumble return.

The defensive end, Calhoun, added his third touchdown of the season, midway through the third on a 56 yd interception return.

MSU running back Jeremy Langford scored the spartans only offensive score of the afternoon on a two yard run in the fourth quarter.

After the game Calhoun talked about how important the team's defensive scoring has been to this point.

"Through camp we discussed being able to score on defense," Calhoun said. "Even if our offense is good, even if they're great, we still wanted to make that another aspect to our game. To be able to score on defense and create touchdowns, I mean, we were very exited for the challenge and we were looking for ward to it and to see it all play out is mind blowing and it's a great feeling"

Coach Dantonio was also quick to praise the play of his defense.

"The defense today, outstanding," Dantonio said. "Two scores, numerous sacks. Certainly limited their passing game and their run game effectively."

But even with the tremendous defensive play, offense, namely at the quarterback position has been the Spartan's biggest concern.

"Of course I'm concerned," Dantonio responded to a question about the teams lack of offensive production. "How? On a scale of 1-10? You know, if you were the head coach, I'd say it's about an eight. Is that good enough? I'm concerned. I'm concerned. We need explosive plays in our offense. Got a chance to go down the field, got the ball too many times in positions that I would consider a sudden change and we're not getting points."

Dantonio says that the team has been, and will continue making adjustments until the problem is solved.

"I'm concerned obviously," he reiterated. "But as you see, we're trying to play three quarter backs, trying to generate things, we're playing numerous wide-outs, took the red-shirt off of RJ Shelton as well. We'll expand his role as he moves forward, and we're gonna find out. We're gonna find out about people. I don't know any other way to do it other than to play it out."
