UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Last week the Township Board suggested to make some changes to the current sidewalk ordinance within the township. Those changes are as followed: If there is more than 2 inches of snow or any unsafe ice on the sidewalk the adjacent home to that sidewalk is required to remove the snow or ice. The Director of Public Works & Engineering or his agent will notify the owner of the adjacent side walk and it is up to that owner to remove the snow. If the owner fails to do so they will be handed the bill.
The second part of the ordinance is that dog owners would be required to keep there dogs on a now longer than a six inch leash while out walking. This is for the safety of other pedestrians.
The Meridian Township Board has yet to vote on these changes and plans to discuss the ordinance at their July 5th meeting.
