MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Some may look at a seasonal business as a drawback, yet having a business that is only operating when it is needed allows for flexible scheduling and efficient management.

One employee gave the inside scoop on how an ice cream place remains profitable through relationships and time honored traditions.

J's Cone Zone seasonal employee Maddie Fox says, "I think my favorite part is getting to talk to people. Ice cream allows for that two minute conversation and you get to actually meet people from your area."

This seasonal business caters to their target crowd and knows that keeping up good relationships with local baseball and softball teams is a huge part of their success.

J's Cone Zone is located on the corner of Marsh and Lake Lansing Road and is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
