MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - A new bill was recently reported by the House Regulatory Reform Committee that would strengthen a township's ability to inspect mobile home parks and enforce violation notice.
This bill would help identify which entity, the state or the township, would be responsible for inspections and disciplinary actions against mobile home parks. There is only one mobile home park located within Meridian Township and that is Winslow Mobile Home park in Williamston.
According to the bill, annual inspections would be required and if it was decided that local units perform the inspection instead of estate agency, they would recover the cost of doing so.
MTA (Michigan Township Association) supports this bill as it provides townships with the authority to address ordinance violations in their communities.
However, Mark Kieselbach, Director of Community Planning for Meridian Township, doesn't think that it would really effect Meridian Township.
"It may have a small effect on us, I don't think it will effect us as some of the other communities that may have many mobile home parks in them" said Kieselbach.
