HASLETT - Haslett softball is young and with that comes growing pains.

Portland came into town on Opening Day and managed to end the highly anticipated start to a new season, earlier than expected.

A large lead in the fifth inning, quickly inflated with base hits by one Viking team and blunders by another. Portland finished Tuesday evening with a, 13-1, punisher over Haslett.

Haslett has a couple of weeks to simmer on this cold start. The Vikings head to East Lansing April 12 at 4 p.m. in hopes of redemption.
