MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - There is a new group in Meridian Township - Team Meridian.
The group is composed of five members - candidates in the August 2nd Primary Election:
Gayelord Manowksi ,Patricia Jackson,Phil Deschaine,
Julie Brixie, and Dan Opsommer .
Their goal is supporting one another and helping each other throughout the campaign.
" A number of us got together and realized we have some common goals for the township," states Brixie.
"People with some common goals that wanted to work hard," says Manowksi.
"I find comfort working with people who have done it before who understand the process," states Jackson.
"We come together because we have similar values, says Deschaine.
Background:
Julie Brixie is the current Treasurer of Meridian Township.
She has served on the Township Board for 16 years and is the former President of the Haslett- Okemos Rotary Club.
Gayelord Mankowski served as a Meridian Township
Police Officer for 25 years and received the
Mcclaren-Tri County hero of the year award in 2010.
Patricia Jackson serves on the township planning commission and zoning board of appeals and was
awarded the Meridian Leadership award for her
16 years of service to our community.
Phil Deschaine created the township's love a park day and flags over meridian which supports programs for youth and serves on the township parks commission .
Dan Opsommer serves on the Township Planning Commission and as the Chief of Staff to State Representative Jim Townsend.
