OKEMOS - The Old Country Buffet off of Grand River has been left vacant for quite some time.

The building has been out of use since its previous owners who leased the space left after closing one night without notice.

"The issue is unpaid bills, certainly utility bills for water and sewers certainly there is the treasurer is concerned because there's personal property taxes that are involved when you close that you need to pay," said Director of Community Planning and Development in Meridian Township Mark Kieselbach.

The location may soon become another restaurant.

Those involved with the Asian Buffet near Target have just been issued a remodeling permit for the Old Country Buffet building with the intentions of opening another buffet in its place.
