OKEMOS HIGH SCHOOL - "We’d really be excited to play Haslett if we could meet them in a district final. Obviously we have a lot of work to do before that. But they’re a great team. They you know they’re experienced. They’ve made it to the quarter finals to the state tournament last year so they have a lot of experience to draw from," said Jamie Iianni, Okemos Volleyball Head Coach.
Darla Richards opened the scoring for Okemos with a hard kill left center court in the opening round of the district playoffs. They had defeated Lansing Everett twice in earlier conference action. Richards would continue to pound the ball with assists from Sammy Theuer and Ashlynn Schiro. Okemos would build a sizable lead in each game but Everett wouldn’t go quietly with strong defense led by Dayjah Stewart.
Everett’s Dalia Carpenter kept up the attack to keep the Vikings close but Okemos would prevail, winning three to sweep Everett and move on in the playoffs.
Okemos will face Lansing Eastern Nov. 7th.
