Okemos Swims Past Haslett 225-80

UPDATE: HASLETT, MI - It was a fast start for Okemos as the Chiefs won the first 4 events.

In event 5, Okemos dominated the boys 1 meter diving. Haslett had no divers for the event, so Okemos was able to sweep up a total point score of 412.75. Daniel Bartkowski won the event with a score of 150.45, Ayrton Fineout had a score of 148.50 which put him in second, and Kael Fineout had a score of 113.80 for third. Okemos would have earned more points in this event, but diver John Tiffany was disqualified.

Okemos proceeded to excel winning the 100 yard butterfly and freestyle, 500 yard freestyle, 100 yard backstroke and breaststroke, and the 400 yard freestyle relay.

Haslett did win event 9, the boys 200 yard freestyle relay, with the team of Nathan Laczynski, Bryn Williams, Dustin Rice, and Ryan Laczynski, with a time of 1:40.17.

Okemos beat Haslett 225-80, won 11 out of the 12 events, and beat Haslett by 145 points.

"It's a little different when you have eight lane scoring, there's more points available," said Okemos Swim Coach Patrick Saucedo. "Coach Oliver had some things he needed see, I had some things I wanted to see, so we both did the things we needed to for the benefit of our team and that's how it played out."

Okemos will face the Lansing State Journal's team favorite, the Holt Rams, in their next meet.
