MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the September 16th Township Board meeting, the Board passed an agenda item that has been before the Board 11 times. The item involves the rezoning #14020 of 3698 Okemos Road from rural residential to multi-family apartments.

Briarwood residents felt the office would have more of a detrimental effect on their neighborhood then the apartments, but Trustee John Veenstra thought otherwise.

"In the past, on a number of issues, I have sided with the Briarwood residents. But in this case I thought their concern was misplaced, so I didn't vote with it," said Veenstra.

Trustee Veenstra and Clerk Brett Dreyfus voted no, but the majority helped the item pass.
