GRANDVILLE - Okemos Lacrosse headed west to take on East Grand Rapids in the MHSAA Semifinals at Grandville High School.
East Grand Rapids jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and looked to have the game in hand as they control the ball and used their style of play to counter Okemos' aggressive style. The Chiefs would not be held down, though. They rallied and scored 5 unanswered goals to put them up 5-3 at the end of the first quarter.
Okemos stalled in the 2nd quarter, and didn't put any goals in while East Grand Rapids locked up the score at 5-5 to end the first half.
The second half was all Okemos, though. With some amazing goal-tending and a tenacious offensive burst the Chiefs managed to score another 8 goals in regulation and hold off EGR to only 5 more, 3 of which came in the desperation time before the game's end. The final score, 14-10 Okemos.
Okemos will advance to the State Finals to be played in Troy this Saturday against Cranbook.
