UPDATE:
OKEMOS - The Okemos boys basketball team had a nail-biter of a win against Holt last week in front of large crowds for both teams. Okemos took an early lead and was up by ten at the half before Holt made a run in the fourth quarter and almost stole the game away from the home team.
Okemos coach Dan Stolz said that free throws could have won or lost the game for either team. The game's high number of fouls led to a combined 54 free throws, of which only 29 were made.
"We have so much to work on," Stolz said, "but if we could've made our free throws, there probably would've been a little bigger spread."
Chris Harrison-Docks led all scorers with 29 points and four assists to help the Chieftans take the victory and improve to 6-3 on the season and 3-2 in the CAAC Blue. Taylor Moton had a double-double with 15 points and 15 boards for the home team.
Colin Jones led Holt with 18 points, scoring 13 in the fourth quarter to keep the Rams in the game until the very end.
"It's always tough like this between Okemos and Holt," Stolz said. "I'm just happy to get the win."
The Chieftans face two tough match-ups this week, as they travel to Lansing Eastern on Tuesday and East Lansing on Friday. Eastern is the third-ranked Class A team in the state, while East Lansing is ranked eighth.
