BATTLE CREEK - Okemos girl's golf traveled out to Battle Creek to play in the MHSAA Division Two State Finals. Okemos was represented by four seniors and one sophomore during the State tournament.
Out of 15 teams, Okemos placed fourth in the State Finals. Although none of the girls placed individually, the team took fourth overall scoring 348 on Friday and 358 on Saturday. The team that placed 3rd, South Lyon, only beat them by 6 points.
Two of Okemos' players are the Kim sisters, Jessica is a senior and Lauren is a sophomore. Their mom was out in Battle Creek switching off following each girl around.
"We never thought it would be a high school varsity or a collegiate game, but they've worked hard and they've come this far and they've both been playing on varsity for their full time in high school," said Rebecca Kim, the mother of the two, "they've been really solid, so they've made mom and dad really proud."
And Jessica Kim was the lowest scorer for Okemos, scoring 83 the first day and 84 the next.
