INGHAM COUNTY - Ingham County is developing a trail system that extends from Michigan State’s campus and the Community Music School on Hagadorn to the Ingham County Parks around Lake Lansing.
The trail will be constructed in three phases. Phase II is already set for construction this year and will run from Grand River Avenue to Marsh Road.
The start of Phase I is designed to line up – across Hagadorn – with the MSU sidewalk behind the East Neighborhood. This phase is expected to be funded at the end of this year and will start construction next year.
Lastly, Phase III is anticipated to be funded next year, with plans for twenty 2023 construction, and will connect from Marsh Road to Lake Lansing County Parks – North and South.
Once completed, the trail system will provide direct access to several Meridian Township facilities including a land preservation area, the Township's Service Center and the two Ingham County Parks.
According to Nyal Nunn, Meridian Township’s Senior Project Engineer, this trail will provide a safe and enjoyable path for non-motorized commuters between MSU and Meridian Township, providing access to the recreational and commercial opportunities that the Township offers.
