MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Michigan Public Service Commission recently adopted a funding factor to help alleviate finances for those considered low income. The funding factor is now set at 99 cents per meter, per month. This only applies to utility companies that are complying with the Low Income Energy Assistance Fund.
Utility companies that serve the local area such as Consumers Energy and DTE Electric Company are taking part in the participation.
Spokesperson for the Michigan Public Service Commission, Judy Palnau describes how to find this funding factor, "customers can look for it as a separate line item on the bill."
Customers can look for the funding factor in September. That's when the factor takes effect.
