MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Last weekend, a new pedestrian bridge was installed over the Red Cedar River at the intersection of Okemos Road and Mount Hope.
Construction has been ongoing, and is finally drawing to a close.
The construction crew poured and set concrete on the bridge over this past weekend, and the bridge will be open to public use after the final safety checks are complete.
"We have a few things we need to finish to make it safe for use, such as railings," said Younes Ishraidi, the Construction Project Manager.
The new bridge will provide all pedestrians safe passage over that narrow stretch of road. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the bridge on June 17th at 11am.
