MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - On Tuesday, October 1st, the Township Board voted 7-0 to pass the Michigan Mutual Aid Box Alarm System.
This agreement allows the Township access to other departments in the event of a large-scale disaster. 5 other districts are currently a part of this system, and Meridian would have access to fire units, EMS units, special units, and personnel.
This agreement is to ensure protection and safety in the event of a natural disaster or a man-made disaster that cannot be handled by a couple departments in one area. Other states such as Indiana are using this system as well.
