UPDATE:
LANSING,MI - The Lansing Mitten Mavens Roller Derby team is a non-profit roller derby league formed in April of 2010.
"It gets pretty complicated," said Senior Member, Natisha Jorae. "You have a pack which is comprised of four people from each team and your point scorers are called jammers."
Jammers start behind the pack. The goal of roller derby is to get a jammer through the pack first to stop the opponents jammer from getting through. Jammers get a point for every opponent they pass.
Anyone from the age of 8 and above can participate in roller derby. The Mitten Mavens also have a junior team called the Cap City Wild Childs.
Check the Mitten Mavens out on Facebook at Mitten Mavens or www.mittenmavens.net to learn more about the team.
