MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Jane Rose, Executive Director of the Meridian Historical Village recently released a book titled "Meridian Township".
"I'm such a history geek and proud of it because I get very excited when I learn something and can say, I didn't know that," says Rose.
Rose has previously written books, historical articles and organizational newsletters in the past but wanted to put all her knowledge, trivia and facts on Meridian Township into a separate novel.
Rose was approached by Arcadia Publishing and the Okemos Public Library a few years ago asking her to write a book but "It just wasn't the right time for me," says Rose.
About one year ago, the Haslett Public Library contacted Rose regarding this book and finally Rose accepted and began writing.
"Every once in a while something will click and you can write eight to ten pages in one day then you might go a few days just thinking about it."
Rose truly enjoys writing and her favorite part about writing the book is coming up with surprises for people that they never knew about.
If you are interested in purchasing this book, you can visit Schuler's book store in Okemos or Grand Rapids, the Okemos Walgreens and the Historical Village gift shop. If you purchase from the Village, a portion of the proceeds goes towards the Friends of Historic Meridian.
"I'd be happy to consider another book, perhaps in another decade or so if I have gathered enough information," says Rose.
