OKEMOS - Meridian Township Parks and Recreation hosted its annual Meridian Fishing Derby for kids ages 5-7 on Saturday in Central Park at the Meridian Historial Village. Moms, dads, grandparents and kids stood watching the lines that had been cast into the water, waiting for a jerk of tension to show that a fish had taken the bait.

This event is held in conjunction with Michigan Department Natural Resources "Free Fishing Weekend", allowing all residents and vistors to michigan to fish without a license.
