MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - It's the year of the rooster-a year representing optimism, confidence and practicality.
Meridian Township held its annual Chinese New Year celebration this past Saturday with activities ranging from arts and crafts to games and even live performances.
On the center stage there was a fashion show, traditional dances and live music. In more than 20 booth set up around the stage visitors could get there name transcribed into Chinese, make origami and see demonstrators perform tea ceremonies.
"This is a culture event so it's a place for the Americans and Chinese to come together and enjoy our culture and heritage,"
said Yi Shi, Vice President of the Greater Lansing Chinese Association.
Performances included the Chinese Fairy Dance Team, Michigan State Chinese Band and many more.
