UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Meridian Township is welcoming new changes to the Meridian Recycling Center.
The Recycling Center at 55976 East Lake Drive is now accepting styrofoam and most forms of plastic. Plastics are labeled with a number and everything numbered one through six is now accepted. Sometimes it can get confusing with all the different types.
Leroy Harvey, the Recycling coordinator for Meridian Township helps to bring some light to the confusion. "Polystyrene is that white expandable pellets that are molded into basically packing material which is different than some other types of plastic. You want to make sure it snaps. It's not bendable foam. We don't take that that bendable foam"
Partnering with DART allowed for the recycling center to make these changes as they will pick up the styrofoam. Making changes like these are important for providing as many recycling opportunities as possible to residents.
