MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Plant it Pink Garden received national recognition for being the best community garden in the nation.
Located in the Historical Village, Meridian Garden Club President Jodie Szalankiewicz says the garden is meant to be a place for those to reflect and remember their loved ones they have lost to breast cancer.
"It's a place to contemplate how wonderful the world would be without breast cancer," Szalankiewicz said.
Through National Garden Clubs Inc, the garden won first place in the state and then went on to be the first in the nation.
During the meeting, Township Supervisor Ronald Styka congratulated them for their hard work.
The Meridian Garden Club newsletter will be coming out in the next couple of days.
