MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Emergency Needs Fund is at an all time low and the Township, along with the Community Resources Commission, are working together to generate $3,000 in funds through raffle ticket sales by December 17th.
So far, $1,500 has been raised in raffle ticket sales and donations.
The Emergency Needs Fund assists residents with financial crises including rent, utilities, medical and personal needs.
"The Emergency Needs Fund is low, so we started the Meridian Cares Fundraiser to try to bolster that fund up to the level that it should be, especially as we approach the colder months when people need help, especially with utilities," said Darla Jackson, Human Services Specialist.
Tickets can be purchased for $10 each or 3 for $20 at any Meridian Township Office Building. Donations are also being accepted.
Raffle ticket winners will receive 1 of 20 gift baskets, valued between $50-$100 from area businesses including Douglas J, Dusty's Cellar, and Biggby Coffee among others.
The winners will be announced through the Township's Facebook page on December 17th.
