MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - In order to maintain the peace and comfort of Meridian Township, there are certain codes and ordinances aimed towards preventing loud disturbances.
In the matter of loud vehicles, the Township has adopted the State’s Vehicle Code regarding noise limitations and prohibitions. Under this code, vehicles are not to be operated if it produces so much noise that it can be audible for more than 50 feet within the subdivisions.
This code especially pertains to defective exhaust systems or modified mufflers that produce noise in excess levels. If one’s vehicle is found to be disturbing the peace of Meridian Township, a noise violation ticket can be issued along with a fine and a request to have it repaired.
Additionally, it is unlawful for mechanics to install or modify any part of a vehicle’s exhaust system that would cause it to produce excess noise.
