MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Central States Region of the Alliance for Community Media (ACM) announced the 2013 Philo Festival of Media Arts Award Winners at their Award Gala on October 5, 2013 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. HOMTV was acknowledged for excellence in the following categories, Arts/Cultural Awareness, Empowerment/Inspirational, Instructional, Interview Talk Show, Magazine Program, News Program, P.S.A., Promo (3:00 or less), Seniors, and Excellence in Directing Award for "Special Feature #236: Life as a Zebra."
“HOMTV hires around 30-45 student journalists, producers, and promotion interns each year. The nonprofessional award winners represent their work they have created almost entirely on their own. After they’ve received training through our program, interns have the opportunity to create work independently. The caliber of students at the state colleges and universities coupled with the hands on training through the HOMTV Internship program gives them the skills and tools to succeed in their professional career. They should be very proud of their work.” said Communications Director Deborah Guthrie.
The Central States region consists of Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, and Missouri. The Chapter provides a localized network of citizens, professionals, and organizations interested in community media issues, technology, and content.
HOMTV provides exclusive gavel to gavel coverage of township meetings and additional programming that offers news and information about the community.
