MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Downtown Development Authority requested a one-day liquor license for the Celebrate Meridian event, formerly known as Celebrate Okemos.

Trustee John Veenstra thinks that the beer and wine tent brings in revenue and should continue at this year's event.

The license requested is a Special License for Consumption on the Premises which would be issued by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.

There is a fee of $50 for the license and it is good for one day, with sales beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at 2 a.m., although the event will start at noon.

The Board carried the motion to approve the liquor license for the Celebrate Meridian event which is scheduled for Saturday, June 11.
