MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN - Cyanobacteria has been identified in Lake Lansing through positive tests, and Meridian Township has urged residents to stay away until further notice.
Cyanobacteria is a form of algae that is blue in appearance and can be toxic for people and animals, making them sick. Residents of Meridian Township are advised to remain cautious at Lake Lansing and to remain vigilant for any sign of algae in the water or on land. Avoid contact with algae, as it is highly requested that residents do not drink or use the water to wash materials momentarily. If after swimming you feel sick, notify a doctor to be treated.
