MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Developers who want to turn a vacant piece of land in Meridian Township into a hotel are a step closer to making that happen.

Boomer Group, LLC wants to turn the property on the corner of Jolly Oak Road and Water Lilly Way into an all-suites hotel.

The Planning Commission unanimously voted to recommend the site for rezoning from Professional Office to Commercial. David Pearson, attorney for the developers, said that the next step is to appear in front of the Township Board, where they will, essentially, be starting from scratch.

"Although they see the Planning Commission materials and they read it, what they don't have is the sense of what you see at the public hearing. The Township Board does not hold a public hearing on the rezoning and, as a result, doesn't get the background," Pearson said.

Pearson said the developers expect to appear in front of the board in mid-July.
