UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The tradition of New Year's Resolutions goes all the way back to 153 B.C. A mythical king named, Janus in Ancient Rome was designated as head of the calendar.
Janus could look back on past events and into the future. He became the ancient symbol for resolutions and many Romans looked to him for forgiveness at the beginning of each year.
With the year 2013 approaching, the tradition still stands with many people. Some of them have the goal to get a little healthier in the upcoming year, but it's hard venture sometimes.
"It's tough to do day in and day out. Every day life gets in the way and then you get stressed out and you want to have a drink, or have something to eat, or your job gets in the way and you don't have enough time to exercise and then you say I'll start on Monday." said one East Lansing Resident.
