UPDATE:
HASLETT - On December 6th, the Meridian Township match-up between two local teams, had coaches and players excited for this hometown rivalry.
At tip-off the Vikings took control of the game and Haslett's Makenna Ott drove past Okemos defenders for the easy lay-in. That put Haslett on the board right off the bat. Okemos was determined, and Kourtney Scott hit Julia Grisdela for the quick bucket, and we're even.
In the second quarter Jessica Tyrer launches the ball to Tasha Bolda, who pushes through Okemos defenders and effortlessly lays it in for Haslett. With 5:23 remaining in the second quarter Krystelle Yewah dishes it out to Grisdela for the 3 and now Okemos is down by 1. With under 3:00 remaining in the second, Ott connects with Sarah Trosko who banks it off the glass, but it's still good for two.
The score Haslett 28, Okemos 20 going into the half.
The Vikings came out of the half strong as Mackenzie DeCook took control with a baseline drive, but relentless to get her Chieftains ahead, Yewah drives the lane, gets the bucket and draws the foul. Pushing Okemos's momentum, Yewah does it again with under 3:00 remaining in the third with a similar drive, another bucket, and another foul.
But in the fourth Haslett was persistent and gained control. Ott hits and inside jumper, extending Haslett's lead by 13. Haslett won 51-32 and Makenna Ott led Haslett with 16 points, while Julia Grisdela led Okemos with 12.
