OKEMOS - The Harris Nature Center Foundation began raising money for a school bus scholarship fund. The foundation set each scholarship at $100 to go towards offsetting the transportation cost for schools wishing to take a field trip to the center.

Last year the foundation gave out seven scholarships, which equated to 18 classes coming to the center. Because of the size of the bus the foundation encourages multiple classes to share a bus. The program is not limited to particular districts, any teacher, in any district can call and ask for a bus scholarship; although schools in Meridian Township visit the center most frequently.
