MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - For the 8th year in a row Home Depot, in conjunction with Dewalt Tools hosted the Great Divide.

The event scheduled on the Friday before the MSU vs. UofM football game puts the Ann Arbor Fire Department against the Meridian Township Fire Department in a race to cut cars in two using only Dewalt tools.

For the 5th year in a row Meridian Township fire fighters won the event. Meridian Township's time was 2:45 and Ann Arbor's time was 3:10.

The event included food, games and an appearance from the MSU Cheerleaders. The Williamston High School band provided music for the festivities including the MSU fight song.

"Actually any time that State can beat Michigan is a good day. So I'm a good State fan and I think that this will continue," said Ken Phinney, Lieutenant for
Meridian Township Fire Department.
