Give Blood, Give Hope

Give Blood, Give Hope

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The American Red Cross held a township blood drive at the Meridian Municipal Building on Thursday, June 12.

The blood drive was part of the campaign “100 days of summer, 100 days of hope,” which the Red Cross kicked off on May 23rd in hopes of increasing donations.

Blood drives are often held at high schools during the school year, but since schools aren’t in session during the summer months, donations typically drop.

Several donors were signed up, and each had different reasons for coming out and donating blood.

Meridian Township Executive Assistant, Carol Hasse said, “They’re always nice and friendly. They have good music and it’s kind of actually relaxing because it gives me a break from my normal work day and I can go in and give blood and just kind of relax for a little bit."

Each donation can save up to three lives. There were 16 successful donations at this event.
