UPDATE: OKEMOS - Thursday's preliminary hearing determined there was enough evidence in the case to send Connor McCowan to trial for murder.

ORIGINAL STORY: OKEMOS - Intense testimony came to light during Thursday's preliminary exam as Singler's roommate, Tyler Aho and Meridian Township Police Sgt. Andrew Mcready were both on the witness stand.

Aho provided a firsthand account as to what happened the night of the stabbing saying McCowan showed up to Singler's apartment with a flip blade which he then used to stab Singler in the doorway, but not before Singler was able to punch McCowan.

McCowan and Singler had been exchanging explicit and profane text messages throughout that night leading up to the incident. McCowan at one point texted Singler saying he'd come over to "[expletive] knock his teeth out."

Sgt. Mcready read the text messages aloud on the witness stand.

McCowan's attorney stood by his earlier statement saying McCowan acted in self defense after being provoked by Singler, but that wasn't enough for the judge.

McCowan will be back in court for the start of the murder trial with the arraignment scheduled for May 1.
