MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the Township Board meeting Tuesday, Jan. 7, the emergency plan used during the ice storm was explained.
Fire Chief Fred Cowper, Police Chief David Hall and Director of Public Works and Engineering Ray Severy all touched on how hard their staff worked to make sure residents of Meridian Township were taken care of during this difficult time.
One thing that was mentioned was the warming shelter that was held at Haslett High School.
Many brought food to those using the facility for warmth and the officers that resided there during this time as well.
Township Manager Frank Walsh said, "I just publicly want to thank, Fred, our chief and Chief Hall, our police chief, and their staff and our communications department, our IT department and everyone else that was involved. I can tell you over the past few weeks, we've worked night and day to protect our residents."
