UPDATE:
OKEMOS - The four corners of Okemos welcome some new art. There are six new sculptures giving downtown Okemos a new look.
"I think that they look nice, they add a lot to the community, and they enhance the whole vibe that you get when you drive through here," said Parker Hintzman,
Peter Menser, Assistant Planner for Meridian Township said, "It's about creating a sense of place, about making an identity for the area, and I think it's working. People have mentioned to me on numerous occasions, you know they are starting to make the connection between downtown and sculptures."
And this art is for sale. Menser said, "if they do sell we will work to replace them and get something equally as dynamic in its place."
These sculptures came just in time to celebrate.
"The Celebrate Okemos event is kind of our launch for the whole summer. The timing is perfect, this event is going to work as our unveiling of the sculptures. And to build an event around the new installations. They are up now, they have been up for a couple of weeks, we are kind of kicking off the season, said Menser."
The Celebrate Okemos Event is Thursday, June 7th from 6:00-9:00 p.m..
