LANSING - Douglas J Companies announced they will be relocating their Salon and Spa in downtown East Lansing to a new location in the Eastwood Towne Center.

Douglas J Salon and Spa has been at their East Lansing location since 1995, starting out as a school. The salon has faced some challenges in East Lansing, as that location has difficult parking and no main retail front.

CEO Scott Weaver said their lease at their East Lansing location is expiring at the end of the year and with the opportunity to join the Eastwood Towne Center, the timing couldn't have worked out better and they have made the choice to not renew their lease in East Lansing.

Plans are still trying to take shape with the Okemos property, which is located directly across the street from their current Salon and Day Spa in Downtown Okemos. Residents should see the property under construction sometime in early 2016.

The project has been a long-time coming, but it has run into some unforeseen delays.

Weaver said, "We're still committed to doing it, we're going to do it on a smaller scale. We actually have submitted the permits and are looking to start the demolition process which will take care of the first house."

Weaver also went on to say that difficulties with the site has sent them back to the drawing board and they're currently working with engineers to draw up new site plans.
