UPDATE: MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Douglas J Salon and Spa is moving forward with their concept plan in Downtown Okemos.

The project that was approved in September of last year, is now moving forward with construction starting sometime in March. Douglas J closed on the property and will now be moving forward with building permits and construction on the land where the Traveler's Club, White Brothers Music and Triple Goddess Bookstore, now stand.

"They are in the process of going through site plan review, which is the staff review of the plans, and they have received a conditional approval in Decemeber, which is an additional thirty days for us to get revised plans back, so we should be able to make a decision on that this week." Said Martha Wyatt, Meridian Township Assistant Planner.

Because three buildings are currently on the property, they must also apply for demolition permits with the township before beginning construction.
