UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Meridian Township Parks and Recreation Department are in the process of expanding the deer management program.
In response to receiving multiple complaints about deer causing car accidents and eating residents' landscape, the Township started the Deer Management Program in 2011.
Jane Greenway, Parks and Land Management Coordinator for Meridian Township says expanding the hunting program is now necessary.
"We're proposing to have the hunters harvest three antler-less deer, and then they are allowed to harvest an antlered deer, or a buck. So We're hoping that it increases the numbers," Greenway said.
The Township Board passed the expansion at their last meeting.
