MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Costco has received the building permits it needs to begin construction and hopes to begin by May.
Before Costco can begin building the site needs to be cleared.
"What they're doing now is Wolverine Pipeline is re-locating the pipeline that's on site that then will allow Costco to begin their work potentially as early as next month but no later than May," said Tim Dempsey, Director of Planning, Building, and Development for the City of East Lansing.
Costco's goal is to be open by October if possible but definitely by Black Friday.
The building of Costco will also come with improvements to roadways in the area.
The paving on Park Lake Road will continue all the way to the Saginaw Highway.
There will also be a traffic signal on the Saginaw Highway to help with entry to Costco.
