UPDATE:
MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - At the last Township Board Meeting, members voted in favor of adopting the final Complete Streets Ordinance.
With this adoption, streets will now include separate lanes to ensure a safer community to commute in.
Not only will it be safer on the roadways, it will also provide health benefits and a way to remain energy efficient by encouraging people to find other means of transportation.
Meridian Township Principle Planner, Gail Oranchak said, "The township will be committed to working with the Ingham County Department of Transportation and Roads and also the Michigan Department of Transportation to see that road projects are not only going to consider motor vehicles, but also pedestrians and bicyclists."
This ordinance is made possible by a grant that was awarded out of the Ingham County Health Department worth $4,500.
