MERDIAN TOWNSHIP - The Township Board passed the updated Freedom of Information Act guidelines at their meeting on June 16th, in a unanimous vote.

The new FOIA procedures and guidelines will go into effect on July 1st of this year for the state of Michigan.

A majority of the changes from the act will effect the billing and deposit process to gain information.

Meridian Township's procedures and guidelines for the process, come from the Michigan Townships Association and the Michigan Municipal League.

Meridian Township Clerk Brett Dreyfus helped develop Meridian's guidelines, and by request of the Township Board, may make changes in the future.

According to Dreyfus the updated forms and procedures will help to assist all future FOIA requests.
