Centennial Celebration for Township Resident

Centennial Celebration for Township
Resident

MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - The world was a much different place in 1914, and one Meridian Township resident can vouch first hand just how true a statement that is.

The family of long time Township resident Bill Hagan held a centennial celebration Friday August 22nd in his honor after the "50 Plus Fitness Workout Class" he still participates in.

Born in 1914 when the Panama Canal's gates were first opened, when a first class stamp cost a whopping 2 cents, and when the assassination of the Austrian Archduke created conflict and war worldwide, East Lansing resident Bill Hagan was born into a very different world than those in more recent times.

Hagan has gathered much wisdom since that time over his one hundred years. His advice to others?

"Like my dad used to say, love many, trust few, and paddle your own canoe."

At one hundred years young Hagan still tries to live his life to the fullest claiming his secret is fast women and song. However he also attributes one reason he has had such a long life to his constant dedication to exercise and staying fit.

Hagan's family and friends were excited to share the time with him and to mark the special occasion with a celebration because its not every day someone turns one hundred.

Birthday wishes for Mr. Hagan can be mailed to PO Box 1292, East Lansing, Michigan 48826.
