UPDATE:
LANSING - Up until now, all CADL locations have only charged overdue fines for entertainment videos and DVDS. The reason for extending the fines to all items is to improve library circulation.
While it's great that so many people are taking advantage of CADL's collection, it can result in long wait times for some items to become available. Sometimes items are returned days, weeks and even months late, which forces other patrons to wait an indefinite amount of time for the item.
When items are returned on time and are moved quickly through the system, the library is able to spend less money buying additional or replacement copies. This money can be spent elsewhere, such as on improving library technology and providing literacy services
